FEATURES of Altra Lone Peak 6

The Altra Lone Peak 6 Trail Running Shoes come packed with these notable features:

  • FOOTSHAPE™ TOE BOX: Enabling toes to naturally relax and expand, the shoes offer exceptional comfort and security when you’re ascending or descending those hills.
  • BALANCED CUSHIONING™: By aligning the heel and forefoot at an equal distance from the ground, these shoes encourage improved alignment, form, and a landing with reduced impact.
  • GAITERTRAP™: With the hook-and-loop tab, you can attach gaiters without the need for straps, effectively preventing debris from accumulating under the shoe.
  • TRAILCLAW™: The carefully positioned canted lugs underneath the metatarsals provide excellent traction, ensuring a confident and secure grip.
  • Quick-Dry Air Mesh Upper: Offers improved breathability, durability, and security, keeping you light on your feet during wet and rainy conditions.
  • Updated Drain Ports: Enhanced water flow for quick drying, making them ideal for trail running.
  • Zero Drop: The Lone Peak 6 features a zero drop platform, where the heel and forefoot are at the same height, providing a more natural alignment and potentially reducing strain on the knees and joints.

Comfortable from the Start

The Altra Lone Peak 6 stands out with its immediate comfort and roomy fit. The wide toe box allows my toes to spread naturally, offering enhanced stability during climbs and tricky downhills.

They are zero drop, and this is great for my knees. I had to wear a knee support until I started wearing zero drop shoes, and they have really helped sort this issue out. This may be because it’s claimed that zero drop shoes help provide a more natural alignment and a lower impact landing.

Whether I’m running on trails or roads, the cushioned support and balanced alignment of the Lone Peak 6 contribute to a comfortable and enjoyable running experience.

How Do The Altra Lone Peak 6 Perform?

The Altra Lone Peaks are designed specifically for trail running and excel in providing a reliable performance on various terrains. The MaxTrac™ outsole with TrailClaw™ canted lugs ensures ample grip, making these shoes suitable for most trail conditions.

Additionally, their good cushioning and wide stability-enhancing design make them great for hiking long distances and dog walking. These shoes truly shine on rocky terrain, as the cushioning and width offer stability and protection from the rugged environment.

What’s The Design Like?

The Altra Lone Peak 6 features several design updates that enhance the overall running experience. The quick-dry air mesh upper not only improved breathability but also provided durability and security.

Even in wet conditions, the upper remained lightweight as it didn’t retain water, keeping me comfortable and light on my feet. I can’t stand it when I’m wearing waterproof trail shoes and I go through a massive puddle (or flood!) and my shoes fill with water. Therefore I’m pleased with the updated drain ports. They ensured quick water drainage, so I haven’t had this issue while trail running wearing them.

The shoe’s lacing system received a welcome improvement, offering a more secure fit across the forefoot and reducing in-shoe slipping.

Color Choices and Availability

While the olive green color appealed to me, it was out of stock at the time of my order 😢. However, the aqua color of the shoes I received turned out to be quite nice and adds a touch of vibrancy to my running gear. Well, until they get covered in mud!

Therefore the main negative about these running shoes is it’s not always possible to chose your favourite color. When you order you’ll need to check out the options available.

This trainer is now available as Altra Lone Peak 7. The 7 is very popular and worth considering. It is available in an even greater color selection too.
